How Pupsley Works

Pupsley is a free app for looking after your dog and meeting the dog people near you. Add your dog, say which suburb you walk in, and everything else follows from those two things.

Helping dogs make friends โ€” and owners find their people.

Getting started

Three steps, and none of them cost anything.

  1. Create your free account. An email address and a password is all it takes.
  2. Add your dog. Name, breed, personality, photos. Everything else in Pupsley hangs off this.
  3. Pick the suburb you walk in. That is how Pupsley works out what's near you. You can tap to use your current location or just type the suburb โ€” either way it is the suburb we keep, never your address.

What you can do with Pupsley

๐Ÿ• Keep on top of your dog's care

Record vaccinations, worming, grooming, vet visits and anything else worth remembering, for each of your dogs. Pupsley works out what is due next and reminds you before it is, so you are not the one holding it all in your head. Puppies get a suggested plan for their first year.

๐Ÿ“ Find the dogs and owners near you

Local shows you who is around: owners nearby, their dogs, and how far away they roughly are. You can look for a particular breed, or for dogs that would get on with yours, and send a friend request to anyone you'd like to walk with. You can browse Local before you sign up โ€” pick a suburb and see what's there.

๐Ÿšถ Arrange a walk

Mark your dog as up for a walk today, see who else is, and send someone a walk invitation with a time and a meeting place. Whoever is coming can see who else said yes. It is the part that gets everybody off the phone and out of the house.

๐Ÿ‘ฅ Join a local group

Groups are for the regulars โ€” the people you keep bumping into at the same park. Join one near you or start your own, and use it to organise walks and meetups together rather than one message at a time.

๐Ÿ”” Raise the alarm if a dog goes missing

If your dog goes missing you can report it, choose how far the alert should reach, and Pupsley notifies owners near where they were last seen. The report gets a page you can share anywhere, and anyone who spots your dog can log a sighting. Reports close as soon as your dog is home.

๐Ÿพ Give your dog a page of their own

If you want one, your dog can have a public page with their photos and their story โ€” something to share with friends and family who aren't on Pupsley. It is off unless you turn it on.

Who can see you

You pick one of three, in Settings, and you can change it whenever you like:

  • Visible locally โ€” owners in your suburb can find you and see your dogs. This is the setting Pupsley is built around.
  • Friends only โ€” only people you have accepted as friends can see your profile.
  • Private โ€” you don't appear in Local at all, and nobody can send you a friend request.

A few things hold whichever you choose. Nobody is ever shown a precise location โ€” the closest Pupsley gets is the suburb you picked. Your dog's public page is off until you switch it on. And someone browsing a suburb without an account sees counts only: how many owners, dogs and walks are around, never names, photos or profiles.

What it costs

Pupsley is free to use. Everything on this page is free โ€” there is no trial, and nothing here is waiting to be moved behind a paywall.

There are no ads either, and we never sell your data โ€” which leaves the people who use it. If Pupsley is worth something to you, an optional supporter membership is A$5.99 a month and you can stop any time, or you can make a one-off contribution, which needs no account at all. Both are entirely optional.

At least half of supporter contributions are committed to dog rescue. The rest covers what it costs to keep Pupsley running โ€” hosting, services and the things needed to run the platform. As Pupsley grows beyond those costs, we want an even greater share of every supporter dollar behind rescue.

Why Pupsley exists ๐Ÿพ

We're not here to build another social network. We're here to help dogs make friends, and owners find their people โ€” in the real world. More about us.
